Welcome to the Can It Continue Fuel Saving Tips Page - We hope you find this Useful

Many of these tips may seem fairly obvious, but it is suprising what a difference they can make
and how many people are not optimising the Fuel economy possible from their car.

An example of this is with my car, the advertised MPG average is around 35 MPG, When untilizing the
tips included here depending on the road, this can be increased by anything from 2 MPG to 8 MPG
Thats up to 23% or nearly a quarter!

Tip1:

Drive in the correct gear :

Many people wast huge amounts of fuel by driving in the wrong gear.
Did you know that this can either be too high or too low.
Most people try to make sure they are not in too low a gear as the noise from the engine gives the indication
that your burning too much fuel, you can go too far the other way though.
If your driving in too high a gear, you could be putting too much stress on your engine, resulting in poor MPG Figures.
as a good estimate you should try and keep the revs between 1600 and 3000 for most cars.
Any less than this and your engine is likely to be working too hard to move the car, any more than this,
and your engine is reving too high and burning more fuel than necassary.
Another tip that could save some extra on fuel is coasting, if your on a long decline in a queue of traffic,
often you will be using fuel for no reason,
if you put you car in neutral it will likely coast as fast as you were driving.
Please be careful doing this though, as you have no form of gear braking.
Also if your continually on the brake you could be causing more wear to your brakes than your saving in Fuel!

Tip2:

Keep your tyres Inflated Correctly:

Again this may seem obvious but how many times recently have you checked you tyre pressures?
If you running too high a pressure the handling of the car will be poor, and your tyres will wear out very quickly
if your tyres are running too low you have excess road resistance causing your fuel enconomy to be poor.
To find the correct pressure for your car, its best to look in your car handbook.
Running the wrong pressure can lower you fuel economy by up to 2% in some scenarios.

Tip 3:

Keep your car weight down:

The MPG a car can achieve is massivly effected by the amount of weight your car is carrying.
If your car is full of heavy items your fuel economy is likely to be awful.
So if your off on a long journey, before setting off, make sure you de-clutter your car.
Move that shopping you never got round to putting away and take the car booster seats out if your on your own.

Tip 4:

Use Air Conditioning Wisely:

When your out driving, many cars these day have air conditioning.
Having this on continually can have a huge impact on your fuel economy.
If you just going on a short slow journey opening your windows is a far better alternative.
Also many cars now have an econo mode, these are far better on your fuel economy and should be used whenever possible
- this will also help extend the life of your air con system.
Please be careful though, as if you travelling fast having the windows open
causes massive wind resistance and will also lower fuel economy
so for fast roads the air con may even be better (Especially on Econo Mode)

Tip 5:

Remove your roof box / bars when not needed:

As much as it can be a pain to keep removing the boxes from the top of your car.
These boxes caused a lot of wind resistance and hence lower your fuel economy.
So after your holiday, empty and remove all roof boxes and bars that as not
needed. You will be suprised the difference this can make!

Tip 6:

Use Fuel additives:

With petrol prices increasing by the day, this can help more than you can imagine
these additives can increase you MPG figures alone by between 5 and 20% depending on the car.
Many comanies will have multiple products that are designed to work together to improve economy further.
We have found a company offering fuel additives at a very reasonable cost,
and they are even currently offering free world wide shipping!
I am using these products in my car and am very pleased with the results.
If you would like to try their products they offer a very
cheap test package that should show you the difference it can make
